The GetTested Parasite Test is a convenient rapid test designed to detect Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, and Cryptosporidium in human stool samples. Entamoeba histolytica is an anaerobic parasitic amoeba that infects humans and other primates, often leading to amoebiasis. This parasite can range from being asymptomatic to causing severe conditions like amoebic dysentery and liver abscesses.

Giardia lamblia, a protozoan, frequently causes severe diarrhoea and is particularly problematic for people with weakened immune systems. The parasite can undergo both acute and chronic phases, potentially leading to malabsorption and weight loss. Therefore, accurate diagnosis is key for effective treatment.

Cryptosporidium, a microscopic parasite, causes the diarrhoeal disease cryptosporidiosis. Its ability to survive for extended periods outside the body and resist common disinfectants makes it especially challenging to control, especially in water systems.
